Position Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (details of the basic job functions):

Serves as thought leader on sustainability change programs across ACG teams as identified in strategy development engagement. Partners with identified business area leaders to pilot, launch, and scale sustainability initiatives.  Connects actions/value creation to ACG 5-Year targets, strategic initiatives, and Connected Member Vision.  Leads as an advocate for sustainability by engaging in sustainability conferences, coordinating activities for employees, collaborating with leaders to help them understand environmental impact of their proposed initiatives, and overseeing strategies to improve ACG’s sustainability position.  Works with external vendor, key stakeholders, and internal team to develop ACG’s Environmental Social Governance (ESG) strategy.  Additional duties include:

  • Create models that calculate ACG’s current environmental impact, provides context for operational changes, and predicts reduction impacts from various actions
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Employee Communications, Public and Government Affairs, Finance, and Strategy to ensure brand and financial alignment
  • Lead engagements with external vendors
  • Take strategy and related recommendations to implement across the footprint through cross-functional project management
  • Develop ACG’s sustainability knowledge through education (connection with L&D) and regular communication
  • Report on progress by clearly communicating roadmap, defining key success metrics, and measuring against available benchmarks
  • Monitor global and governmental sustainability developments, trends, requirements, and best practices
  • Conduct periodic assessment of sustainability targets in relation to ever-changing marketplace
  • Manage program budgets
  • Develop business cases to fund sustainability progress, as investments are needed

Supervisory Responsibilities (briefly describe, if applicable, or indicate None):

Leads professional staff which may be spread throughout the ACG footprint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Expert understanding of environmental and sustainability issues and solutions
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainability strategy programs
  • Successful leadership of enterprise-wide engagements
  • Understanding of ACG’s vast product portfolio
  • External network of sustainability peers

Work Environment

Works in a temperature-controlled office environment. May work in a remote/virtual environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (these are the minimum requirements to qualify)

Education (include minimum education and any licensing/certifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related area

Experience:

  • 10+ years of work experience with increasing levels of responsibility and management
  • 7+ years of managing complex, cross-functional projects
  • 3+ years of supervisory and employee development experience
  • Documented background in Finance, Strategy, Project Management, Consulting, or Environmental Sciences
  • Built and maintained scenario models
  • Created and led executive presentations
  • Developed enterprise-wide strategies

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Firm understanding of sustainability issues and proposed solutions
  • Strategic and detail-oriented
  • Translate data and model results into consumable and actionable story
  • Ability to lead initiatives across all business lines and employee levels
  • Able to manage multiple priorities at the same time
  • Strong quantitative skills with KPIs and analyzing sets of data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees, to include executive leadership
  • Ability to persuade without having direct authority
  • Possess creative solution generation
  • Development and mentorship of employees
